Step 1 of 4
Add your drill data
Export collars and assays from your drill database as CSV and drop them in. The sample project is showing until you do.
Or paste data as text
Checklist
Collars · requiredHole ID, Easting, Northing, Elevation, Depth. Azimuth and Dip can go here too.
Assays · requiredHole ID, From, To, and grade columns (Cu %, Au g/t, CuEq…).
Surveys · optionalHole ID, Depth, Azimuth, Dip. Without it, holes run straight.
Topography · optionalX, Y, Z points or LiDAR. Without it, the surface is fitted to the collars.
Model shapes · optionalGrade shells or geology as OBJ meshes.
Lithology or alteration · optionalHole ID, From, To, Code. Painted on the block faces.
Geophysics · optionalX, Y, Z and chargeability or resistivity (CSV or Geosoft XYZ).
Coordinates in UTM metres (lat/long works for collars). Dips can be negative or positive down.

Exploration Maps 3D: drill hole figures for news releases and investor presentations
Exploration Maps 3D (beta) turns drill collars, downhole surveys and assays into a branded 3D drilling figure and a matching cross-section, in the browser, with nothing to install. The Example Ridge project on screen is a fictional sample with illustrative data.
What it does
- Reads collars, surveys and assays as CSV or ZIP, with optional topography and OBJ model shapes, and checks them for missing collars, From ≥ To, overlapping intervals, intervals beyond hole depth, conflicting surveys, dips out of range and outlying collars.
- Draws the holes in a glass or solid block with labels on its faces, over your topography, the collar elevations, or real elevation with a satellite drape once the coordinate system is set.
- Colours traces by grade, with a display cut-off, intercept callouts, and "Assays pending" and provisional-position labels from the collar status.
- Adds a section A–A′, and an optional grade shell interpolated from the assays at a cut-off, labelled on the figure as an exploratory envelope, not a geological model or a mineral resource.
- Calculates a metal equivalent such as CuEq or AuEq from your prices and recoveries and prints the formula in the footnote.
- Exports PNGs for slides, news releases, square and portrait posts and A4 print, or a layers ZIP for designers. Figures can be saved to a free Exploration Maps account or sent to the design desk.
Building and exporting figures is free. Figures show the data you load; the issuer's Qualified Person remains responsible for what a disclosure figure states.

Step 3 of 4
Set up the figure
Choose what colours the holes, which intercepts to call out, and the camera.
Look
Block section: a cut-away block of a few holes under the satellite terrain, geology painted on its faces, grade bars and bracketed intercepts, the legend and scale on its side.
Colour holes by
Lower limit of each colour
Metal equivalent (CuEq, AuEq…)
Adds a calculated column from your prices and recoveries: % → lb/t × 22.0462, g/t → oz/t ÷ 31.1035. An interval missing any metal gets no value. The formula and assumptions are added to the footnote while it is in use.
Grade shell from assays
For drilling without a model OBJ: an envelope interpolated from the assays at a cut-off. Not a geological model or a resource; the footnote says so.
Advanced
How the shell is built
10 m length-weighted composites down each hole, from the grade column the holes are coloured by (only assayed lengths count; a composite needs 5 m assayed). On a grid over the block (cells about 1/40 of its width, 5–25 m), each point takes the nearest composite from each hole; holes whose collars are within 20 m form one collar group and count once. The nearest groups within the search radius, at most four, are combined with inverse-distance-squared weights (5 m minimum distance), and at least three groups must be in range. The search radius is 75 m, or 1.5 times the median spacing between collar groups for wider drilling. Nothing is estimated above the terrain or collar surface. The surface is drawn by marching cubes at the cut-off and lightly smoothed.
No geological domains, variography, top cuts, density or economic limits are applied, and the distances are screening choices. The shell can break up or close where the drilling ends; those edges are not geological limits. No tonnage or contained metal is implied.
Legend
Drag a legend on the preview to move it.
Labels on the block
Painted on the face in perspective. Drag it on the preview to move it along the face.
Map overlays
Claims, targets, faults or soil points draped on the terrain, from GeoJSON, KML or a zipped shapefile, or claims found in the registries.
Shapes
Ellipses, dimension lines and arrows, fixed in place as the camera turns; also on the section where they lie within its width.
Geology on the block
From a log with Hole ID, From, To and a code column (step 1), interpolated between holes; or a drawn section image per face.
